BAVARIAN REGIONAL EXHIBITION IN ROSENHEIM AND HOHENASCHAU |

|
The visit of the annual Bavarian State Exhibition was the highlight of the GAMC Munich´s program before the break of the summer holidays. This special exhibition is being organized annually by the House of Bavarian History at different places of the Free State, always with reference to local themes of interest. The exhibition was shown at the Lokschuppen, Rosenheim and at the castle of Hohenaschau this year. The title this year is “Knights, Counts and Industry-Barons”. The gentry of Bavaria and it’s involvement in the historical development of the region, as well in the earlier and today’s living conditions of the common people has always been of special attention to the interested citizen. This affinity being possibly more prevailing here in Bavaria, there was active participation in this visit. 40 Club members and their spouses witnessed a very impressive demonstration of the historical development and the influence of Bavarian gentry from its formative stages, covering their culmination and the period of their dwindling influence and power in the 19th century. Demand of Power and Lifestyle of the “Nobiles”, the noble people, were exhibited in rooms of a mock-up castle at the Lokschuppen by way of precious documents, paintings, sacred utensils and valuable items for daily use, partly privately owned, and all composed chronologically resulting in a fascinating overview, attracting all visitors. In the afternoon we visited Castle Hohenaschau, an original castle dating back to the 12th century, well kept and situated just in front of the beautiful scenery of the Kampenwand. The Club members walked round the restored chambers and festive rooms and witnessed the ambience of the earlier life of the gentry. The two exhibitions complemented each other in the most favourable manner. Altogether, the participants had a very interesting day that was equally informative, harmonious and relaxing, leading to the idea of incorporating the annual visit of the Bavarian State Exhibition as a fixed item of the Club’s annual program.
