CHRISTMAS PARTY OF THE GAMC - MUNICH 11 December 2008 |

The annual Christmas-Party of the German-American-Men's Club took place in the Park Hilton Hotel, Munich, in the simple, but elegant Rumford Salon, where numerous club members and several guests rang out the club year 2008. Among the honorable guests welcomed by the president of the club, Dr. Peter Rückert, were Consul Mrs. Kathryn Crockart of the US General Consulate and her husband, as well as our Honorable Presidents, Maj. Gen. Gert Wessels and Maj. Gen (ret.) Justus Gräbner and his spouse. In his reflective speech our president emphasized the special role that young people are playing with regard to the general socio-political situation and their contribution toward a deepening of the German-American relationship. In this regard, he pointed out the intense importance of supporting reciprocal student- and youth-exchanges. In a humorous address in view of Christmas Consul Crockart referred to the good partnership existing between the Consulate General and the German-American Men's Club, both of which aim to intensify the friendship of the two nations based on their common interests. The representative of the German-American student exchange program, Mrs. Bianca Schamberger, gave a lively, humorous, and very interesting account of her experiences while holding a US-scholarship in Seattle, Washington last year. The program was concluded on a cheerful and reflective note by the recitation of Christmas poems and stories given by Erich Wölfinger, a member of the executive board. Entertaining zither music provided an additional highlight of the evening. |
